According to the county on the 27th, the renewable energy cooperative distributes the first quarter resident profit dividends from the 99MW solar power generation project (Haesolar Energy), completed in October last year, to 3,147 residents of Imjado Island. Each resident receives between 400,000 and 100,000 KRW quarterly in 1004 Islands Shinan gift certificates.

Notably, the village with the highest household income from the Imjado Sunlight Pension is Sinmyeong Village. The Yang family, with eight household members, receives the highest amount of 2.25 million KRW quarterly, totaling 9 million KRW annually.

The youngest residents receiving the pension are Mr. Hwang and Mr. Lee from Jinri Village, and Mr. Lee from Sammak Village, each receiving 400,000 KRW quarterly. The oldest resident is Mr. Yoo from Jinri Village, aged 98, who receives 300,000 KRW quarterly.

Director Bu Gwang-cheol of the Imjado Cooperative stated, “As of the 31st of last month, 2,723 residents of Imjado have joined the cooperative, representing an 87% membership rate, which is higher than Anjado, Jara Island, Jido, and Saokdo, where the first Sunlight Pensions were paid. The Sunlight Pension policy, driven by local resources such as sunlight and wind, is very well received by the residents.”

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “There were many difficulties in promoting the profit-sharing policy for renewable energy development, but thanks to the residents’ trust and cooperation with the county’s policy, the current Sunlight Pension has become a reality. Currently, 28% of Shinan residents receive the Sunlight Pension, and once solar power projects are completed in Jeungdo, Bigeumdo, and Sinui-do, 45% of all Shinan residents will receive the Sunlight Pension.”

He added, “We will also strive to expedite the 8.2GW offshore wind power project so that all residents can share an annual profit of 6 million KRW per person.”
