Incheon City completed Gyeyang Neighborhood Park, which began development in 2018, after five years.
The city announced on the 27th that it had finished creating a park covering 344,000㎡, equivalent to 48 soccer fields, with a budget of 10.8 billion KRW.
Sections of the site where forest damage was severe were restored by planting trees, and areas previously blocked by fences will be connected with forest trails to allow visitors to enjoy forest bathing.
In particular, on the west side of the park (towards the Rose Garden), a forest classroom was newly built to provide a space where children and families can experience forest healing and relaxation, and the parking lot was reorganized for the convenience of citizens.
Gyeyang Neighborhood Park is a popular spot for citizens due to its well-developed walking trails and rose garden, but forest damage within the park and the use of some areas as military training grounds, which caused fencing and disconnection, had caused inconvenience to visitors.
Located at the foot of Gyeyang Mountain, this park was designated as Incheon’s first urban natural park in 1944 and was reclassified as a neighborhood park in 2013.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We will establish a systematic usage plan for Gyeyang Mountain, the park, and surrounding major facilities so that citizens can enjoy a wider variety of leisure activities and rest."
