Sangsang Blue Pavilion is a program newly launched this year by KT&G Sangsang Univ, aiming to contribute to creating social value through the production and exhibition of sculptures derived from university students' creative ideas.

The slogan for this contest is "Creating Imagination for the Blue Sea," and participants are invited to submit design ideas for upcycled sculptures using marine waste. The contest is open to university students nationwide (including those on leave of absence), and applications can be submitted in teams of 3 to 4 members. Detailed information can be found on the KT&G Sangsang Univ website.

After collecting design ideas and presentations, five final teams will be selected to receive expert incubating and opportunities to produce actual sculptures. Following production, the sculptures will be evaluated by experts, and a total prize of 6.5 million KRW along with awards such as the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award will be granted. The sculptures, made using marine waste such as sea glass and fishing gear collected in advance from the Jeju coast, will be exhibited in the plaza in front of Jeju Dongmun Market from August 24 to September 30. After the exhibition, the dismantled sculptures will be recycled into benches, bulletin boards, and other items within the Jeju area.

Lee Si-hyung, Head of KT&G Univ Operations Department, said, "We planned the Sangsang Blue Pavilion program to provide practical experience to university students interested in architecture and design and to raise awareness about the seriousness of environmental pollution," adding, "We look forward to the creative ideas and participation of university students who are deeply interested in solving social issues."
