Jeonse Fraud Countermeasure Committee Chair: "Lack of Government Communication Is the Biggest Problem"

"Want to Discuss Measures... But They Don't Listen"

An Sang-mi, co-chair of the National Countermeasure Committee for Jeonse Fraud and Empty Jeonse Victims, expressed frustration, saying "the biggest problem is the lack of communication" regarding the government's measures against Jeonse fraud.

On the 27th, An appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said she had no opportunity to talk with Won Hee-ryong, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, adding, "Even when he came to Incheon, he just took photos and left."

She said, "We really want to go after Nam and his gang, the so-called 'Incheon construction king.' There are many cases where money was clearly embezzled, but we cannot find it," and added, "They transfer ownership to straw landlords, claim they have no money, and make absurd excuses like all the assets in their house were earned by their wives, slipping away one by one."

She continued, "If we can recover even a little here, it will be compensated to the victims," and said, "So I hope these matters can be discussed and addressed together, but they are not listening at all."

Regarding the Jeonse fraud countermeasures, An said, "Honestly, I wish the government would compensate first and then thoroughly go after Nam and his gang to recover the funds," and demanded, "If immediate pre-compensation is not possible, please at least ensure a thorough recovery process so that the Jeonse deposits can be returned then."

Additionally, An pointed out that the government's strict criteria for Jeonse fraud victims might exclude actual victims from being classified as such. She said, "It seems the government is setting very strict standards," and "if you have to pass all four conditions, honestly, it means they do not intend to provide relief."

She added, "The fraudsters have deceived in many different ways, so setting such strict criteria is not acceptable," and said, "The government needs to verify the real cases of fraud and understand what kinds of deceptive acts occurred during the process."
