Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun Visits Hwaseo Market: "Complete Arcade and Parking Lot Construction Quickly"

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun is visiting Hwaseo Market on the 26th, touring the market together with merchants.

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun promised the early completion of the Hwaseong Market arcade (rain shelter roof) and Hwaseo 1-dong public parking lot construction.

On the 26th, Mayor Lee visited Hwaseo Market to inspect the construction sites of the second section of the Hwaseo Market arcade and the Hwaseo 1-dong public parking lot, stating, "We will ensure that the construction is completed as soon as possible."

Opened in 1980, Hwaseo Market is a traditional market representing the western Suwon area. Currently, 615 merchants operate 210 stores selling agricultural products, seafood, livestock products, and fresh produce.

In 2019, Suwon City installed the first section of the arcade in the Ga and Na blocks of Hwaseo Market, measuring 100 meters in length and 14 meters in width. During the arcade installation, unauthorized buildings and aging facilities within the market were also demolished to create a pleasant environment.

The ongoing second section of the arcade installation project began in March 2021. Following conditional approval from the local finance investment review in April of the same year, construction started in September last year. By November, foundational work such as basic excavation and underground structure inspection was completed, and steel structures are currently being installed. The construction is scheduled to be completed by July.

Mayor Lee also visited the construction site of the Hwaseo 1-dong public parking lot, which is expected to be completed in July. The parking lot, capable of accommodating 159 vehicles, is being built on a 4,698㎡ site at 73-2 Dongmal-ro, Paldal-gu, with three above-ground floors (four levels).

Mayor Lee promised, "Resolving the parking issue, which has been the biggest concern in Hwaseo 1-dong, as well as ensuring the smooth operation of the market, is very important. We will listen carefully to the voices of citizens and merchants and manage accordingly."
