Kim Eui-gyeom: "Song Young-gil's Media Channel to Be Taken Over by Someone Else"

On the 26th, Kim Eui-gyeom, a Democratic Party lawmaker who was set to serve as the media liaison for former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil, announced that he would not take on the role.

Kim's office stated, "On the 25th, Kim received a request from former leader Song, saying, 'There are many inquiries from the media, but it is difficult for me to respond directly. Please take charge of the media liaison,' and Kim accepted the proposal."

Previously, former leader Song had left the party taking responsibility for the 'cash envelope' scandal, and news broke earlier that day that Kim would serve as Song's media liaison. This was intended to respond to 'fake news' and other issues.

However, Song changed his mind within a day. Kim's office said, "On the 26th, we received another call from former leader Song. He said, 'This was a personal favor based on friendship, but it is causing unnecessary misunderstandings. I will ask someone else to be the media liaison.' He also added, 'Since I have left the party, I will handle everything on my own.' Kim decided to respect Song's wishes."
