Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has recently been actively revitalizing the local economy by consecutively attracting and hosting nationwide sports competitions, generating great enthusiasm for the events.

원본보기 아이콘First, since March, the county has been hosting the ‘2023 National High School Football League (Gyeongbuk·Daegu Region)’ with matches being held at Cheongsong County Sports Complex and Jinbo Life Sports Park until November.
Additionally, starting from April 26, the ‘2023 Korea Badminton Association President’s National Badminton Championships (Elementary)’ is taking place. Furthermore, various nationwide and provincial-level sports competitions are being prepared, including the 6th Cheongsong County Mayor’s National Elementary School Kendo Competition, the 32nd President’s National Middle and High School Kendo Competition, the 2023 Cheongsong Apple Trail Run, the 2023 Cheongsong Apple Cup National Tennis Tournament, the Gyeongbuk Association President’s Cup Life Sports, and the Gyeongbuk Student Sports Table Tennis Tournament.
Each time these events are held, up to about 1,000 participants including athletes, their families, event officials, and executives visit Cheongsong, staying overnight and dining locally while also visiting tourist attractions. This not only enhances Cheongsong’s city brand image but also injects vitality into the local economy, creating a win-win effect.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that various sports competitions bring synergistic effects to tourism and the economy, providing tangible benefits to the region.”
