Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 26th that it will carry out a comprehensive cleanup of illegal advertisements mainly along major arterial roads and main roads within the district.
This cleanup is aimed at preparing for the upcoming summer heavy rains and will be conducted for about a month until mid-next month.
To this end, Nam-gu will deploy 16 personnel, including responsible public officials and public workers, to carry out the cleanup of illegal advertisements on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
The cleanup areas include major roads and main roads within the district such as Seomun-daero and Daenam-daero, and the targets are illegal banners and flyers scattered around the roadside, as well as banners installed on streetlights.
Illegal signboards and air signboards installed on sidewalks will also be simultaneously cleaned up and removed.
In particular, strong administrative measures such as fines and prosecutions will be taken against those who indiscriminately put up a large number of banners for sales promotion of apartment complexes and habitual violators.
A Nam-gu official stated, "We will do our best to create a clean and safe urban environment by removing illegal advertisements in the city that threaten the safety of citizens."
