Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, will implement a rental deposit support project for tenants and prospective tenants of public rental apartments starting this year.
According to the county on the 26th, newlywed couples can receive up to 20 million KRW per household in rental deposit support.
The contract period is 2 years, and support can be extended up to 10 years depending on the number of children. A budget of 240 million KRW, including provincial funds, has been allocated.
Not only prospective tenants but also existing tenants who are newlywed (or remarried) couples within 7 years as of the announcement date can receive support through bond transfer, expanding the range of eligible recipients.
This project is based on survey results showing that the main reason young people avoid marriage and childbirth is the burden of housing costs, and it is expected to have high satisfaction among beneficiaries.
The application period is until the 4th of next month, and detailed information can be found in the announcement section of the Gochang-gun website.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “I hope this will help newlywed couples struggling with high housing costs,” and added, “The county will actively support all available resources to create a warm and cozy home.”
