The torch relay for the "13th Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports Festival," held in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do from the 27th to the 30th, has begun.


Seongnam City announced that the torch for the event was lit at 10 a.m. on the 26th at the Cheonrimsan Beacon Site in Sujeong-gu. It will tour 50 neighborhoods in Seongnam before being placed in the torch stand at the main stadium, Seongnam Sports Complex, at 4:30 p.m. on the opening day, the 27th, and will remain lit until the closing day on the 30th.


The torch relay runners include eight special runners such as athletes Kim Hansu (Boccia) and Kim Younggwang (Seongnam FC), along with 17 neighborhood-recommended runners.


Under the slogan "Challenging Gyeonggi, Leaping in Seongnam!", this Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports Festival features over 4,300 athletes from 31 cities and counties competing in 17 sports events.


All opening ceremonies and sports events are free to watch. Detailed schedules and results can be checked on the official event website.


Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, expressed, "I offer respect and praise for the passion and fighting spirit of the athletes overcoming many hardships to participate in this event," and urged, "Please fully demonstrate the skills you have honed over time."
