Eunpyeong-gu Office Employees and Private Organizations Donate a Total of 23.63 Million KRW in Cash and Goods
Over 40 Members of Eunpyeong-gu Integrated Disaster Site Volunteer Support Group Assist in Recovery Efforts
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 25th that it has donated cash and goods and dispatched volunteer efforts to support recovery from the Gangneung wildfire damage and aid disaster victims.
To help the citizens of Gangneung suffering from wildfire damage, Eunpyeong-gu delivered donations worth 23.63 million KRW collected through the Eunpyeong-gu Council on Social Welfare. The initial amount raised was 22.63 million KRW, but on the 25th, the Eunpyeong-gu Parish Council additionally donated 1 million KRW, bringing the total to 23.63 million KRW.
The fundraising involved not only senior officials from Eunpyeong-gu Office but also private organizations such as Shinhan Bank Eunpyeong-gu Office Branch, Eunpyeong-gu Chamber of Commerce, Eunpyeong Methodist Church, and member institutions of the Eunpyeong-gu Council on Social Welfare.
More than 40 volunteers from the Eunpyeong-gu Integrated Disaster Site Volunteer Support Group were deployed to the site to carry out urgent relief activities, including removing wildfire debris.
The ‘Eunpyeong-gu Integrated Disaster Site Support Group’ is an organization established to serve as the central body overseeing volunteer activities during large-scale disasters, aiming to build an integrated and rapid volunteer support system. Under normal circumstances, it works to strengthen disaster response and recovery capabilities by establishing a disaster safety network within the region. It also extends help to disaster areas requiring extensive volunteer support, such as the recent Gangneung wildfire damage.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We share the pain of the citizens of Gangneung who are suffering from this sudden disaster and hope they can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”
