Gwangju City Council New Labor Special Committee Listens to Investment Institutions' Union Concerns

Meeting Held with Chairpersons of 10 Labor Union Organizations

The Special Committee on New Labor of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council held a session to listen to the difficulties faced by labor unions of investment institutions and to explore ways to improve labor conditions, labor-management relations, and address regional issues.


On the 25th, the New Labor Special Committee announced that it held a meeting with the chairpersons of labor unions from 10 organizations affiliated with the Gwangju City Investment Institution Labor Union Council at the city council.

During the meeting, various difficulties faced by the labor unions of the city’s investment institutions were heard. In particular, representatives of labor unions from investment institutions included in the structural innovation target promoted by Gwangju City also attended, discussing practical topics such as personnel, financial, and organizational issues that may arise during the integration process of each institution.


Chairperson Chae Eun-ji stated, “This was an opportunity to broaden consensus on the improvement needs presented by the investment institution labor unions,” and added, “We will cooperate with Gwangju City to ensure that the opinions of affiliated employees are sufficiently reflected during the process of readjusting overlapping and similar functions among institutions.”


She continued, “The New Labor Special Committee will actively engage where mediation and cooperation between labor and management are needed,” and added, “The opinions gathered during the policy communication meetings will contribute to policy promotion for the development of Gwangju City’s labor environment and labor-management relations.”


Meanwhile, the Gwangju City Investment Institution Labor Union Council includes 10 institutions invested in by Gwangju City: Gwangju Cultural Foundation, Urban Corporation, Environmental Corporation, Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, Urban Railroad Corporation, Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Center, Credit Guarantee Foundation, Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, Welfare Research Institute, and Gwangsan-gu Facility Management Corporation.


The New Labor Special Committee of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council plans to regularly hold policy communication meetings with various labor-management organizations such as the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, Federation of Korean Trade Unions, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Small and Medium Business Association, Public Officials Union, Teachers’ Union, Labor and Management Society, and Youth Union.
