Dongui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center Selected as Excellent Participant in 'ITRC Talent Development Expo'

The Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center participated in the ‘ITRC Talent Development Expo 2023’ held at COEX, Seoul from April 19 to 21, and was selected as an outstanding exhibition center.

The ‘ITRC Talent Development Expo 2023’ was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation and the University Information and Communication Research Center Council (ITRC). A total of 53 ITRC-affiliated research centers from 28 universities nationwide participated to showcase their research and development achievements.

The Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center exhibited the ‘AI-based Cargo Volume Calculation and Placement Automation System,’ jointly developed by Professor Jeong Seok-chan of the e-Business major and Total Softbank, and the ‘Intelligent Mobile Work Robot,’ developed in collaboration with Professor Ok Seung-ho of the Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering and Ajinextek.

The ‘AI-based Cargo Volume Calculation and Placement Automation System’ is a system that measures vehicles and cargo using sensors to calculate volume and weight, stores cargo data, and automates placement using AI algorithms according to various ship structures and plans.

The ‘Intelligent Mobile Work Robot’ is an intelligent robot capable of human arm-like movements through AI learning and features autonomous driving capabilities, making it applicable in smart logistics centers and other environments.

Center Director Jeong Seok-chan said, “The selection of the Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center as an outstanding exhibition center recognizes the excellent research capabilities of the center and local companies. We will continue to discover outstanding research achievements in the region, enhance the competitiveness of the AI sector in the southeastern region, and take the lead in creating an industrial ecosystem.”

The Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center is currently conducting a total of 12 industry-academia joint research projects in key sectors of the southeastern regional industry, including ▲ AI Marine, Port, and Logistics ▲ AI Manufacturing and Robotics ▲ AI Smart City fields.

Since 2020, the center has achieved 37 SCI papers, 52 domestic and international journal articles, 75 patent applications/registrations, technology transfers totaling 560 million KRW, and industry research funding totaling 1.97 billion KRW. It is also training professionals in the graduate AI department.
