Hankuk University of Foreign Studies to Host the 13th National University (Graduate) Student Russian Debate Competition

Hankuk University of Foreign Studies announced on the 25th that it will hold the 13th National University (Graduate) Student Russian Debate Competition online on the 19th of next month.


Co-hosted by the HUFS Russian Studies Institute and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Korea, this competition has been an annual event since 2011. This year, it will be held online to enhance efficiency and encourage participation from many students.


Eight students who pass the preliminary video screening, submitted between the 24th of this month and the 4th of next month, will advance to the finals.


To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, the organizers plan to select final debate topics such as "Classical Music" and "The Function of Songs and Music."

The grand prize winner will receive a round-trip airfare ticket from Seoul to Moscow (or a scholarship), gold to bronze prize winners will receive scholarships, and encouragement prize winners will receive a small gift prepared by the embassy.


Additionally, all awardees will be presented with certificates signed by the President of HUFS and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Korea.


The award ceremony will be held at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Korea in early June.
