This year, 600 Dementia Safe Pharmacies will be designated and operated in Incheon.
On the 25th, Incheon City signed a business agreement for the 'Dementia Safe Pharmacy Project' together with the Incheon Pharmaceutical Association and the Incheon Metropolitan Dementia Center.
The city plans to train pharmacists at Dementia Safe Pharmacies as dementia partners who understand and consider the characteristics of dementia patients, establishing a dementia safety net to ensure that dementia patients and their families visiting pharmacies do not experience any inconvenience.
Dementia Safe Pharmacies will provide accurate information related to dementia, prevent medication misuse and abuse through medication guidance, and report wandering or missing dementia patients when discovered.
Currently, there are about 1,200 pharmacies in the Incheon area, and the city plans to gradually expand the number of Dementia Safe Pharmacies starting with recruiting 600 locations this year until 2025.
The Incheon Metropolitan Dementia Center will provide content and information to improve dementia awareness to support the activities of Dementia Safe Pharmacies.
