The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education received a great response as 1,145 teachers applied to participate in various policies aimed at enhancing the quality of secondary school classes for the 2023 academic year.
According to the Office of Education on the 25th, the ‘Secondary Class Quality Enhancement Policy’ includes the Subject Academy, Subject Research Groups, Curriculum·Instruction·Assessment Training Teams, and the Class Growth Certification System.
The passion of teachers who want to reflect on and share better teaching methods is expected to contribute to the spread of class quality enhancement.
A total of 1,145 secondary school teachers voluntarily participated, including 79 subject research groups composed of teachers from the same or integrated subjects with 787 members, 13 Subject Academy teams with 124 members as in-depth subject research communities, about 126 members of the Bitgoeul Curriculum·Instruction·Assessment Training Teams for middle and high schools to support the activation of class sharing at individual schools, and 108 members from 45 schools participating in the Class Growth Certification System. These participants actively engage in research and sharing related to subject curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Superintendent Lee Jeong-seon said, “Classes are the ‘core’ of education, and I thank the teachers who strive for student growth through changes in classroom instruction,” adding, “We will support teachers’ own research and practice for better classes and foster a culture of cooperation and sharing so that Gwangju education can soar.”
Meanwhile, the Office of Education held a ‘Subject Academy Planning Stage Council’ on the 14th to establish research plans by subject. It plans to continue actively supporting teachers’ professional development, research, and activities.
On the 26th, the ‘2023 Bitgoeul Curriculum·Instruction·Assessment Training Team Launch Ceremony’ will be held, and on the 29th, a field-customized job training on teaching and learning directions according to the 2022 revised curriculum will be conducted.
