Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women's University welcomed the fact that a famous Japanese sushi chain's Hong Kong branch sold 'Dokdo Shrimp' sushi, calling it "a good precedent."
On the 25th, Professor Seo posted on his social media platform, Facebook, "A follower reported this to me, and I confirmed it through various channels," adding, "A Hong Kong branch of the famous Japanese conveyor belt sushi brand 'Sushiro' recently sold it as the 'Recommended Menu of the Month'." The menu photo he shared showed a sushi item labeled 'Dokdo Shrimp.'

He continued, "Although it is not currently being sold, the fact that a leading Japanese conveyor belt sushi company, which has many branches in Korea and overseas, made and sold 'Dokdo Shrimp' sushi in Hong Kong helped promote Dokdo," explaining, "Foreigners visiting the sushi restaurant in the heart of Hong Kong, a popular tourist destination worldwide, could naturally come across the word 'Dokdo'."
He expressed his welcome, saying, "In fact, it is really not easy for a Japanese company to use 'Dokdo' instead of 'Takeshima' (the name claimed by Japan), so this will remain a good precedent."
Professor Seo stated, "There is a growing trend of restaurants selling Dokdo Shrimp in Korea as well," and argued, "If more diverse menus related to Dokdo Shrimp are developed and naturally introduced to foreign tourists, it will greatly help in widely promoting our Dokdo."
He also emphasized, "At a time when a 'cultural content' based Dokdo promotion strategy is more necessary than ever," adding, "To avoid being caught up in Japan's reckless territorial claims over Dokdo and to raise global public opinion, we must effectively utilize K-content, which attracts worldwide attention, for Dokdo promotion."
