The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Information Service held the '2023 Medical Data-Centered Hospital Support Project Kick-off Meeting' on the morning of the 25th to promote the utilization of medical data.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare previously held an explanatory session and designated 41 medical institutions with capabilities in medical data analysis and utilization as medical data-centered hospitals. Participating medical institutions presented on safe utilization methods of medical data at this kick-off meeting.
The first part of the meeting focused on medical data-centered hospitals, sharing major achievements by consortium and exploring convenient and safe medical data utilization methods through the establishment of a demand-oriented data provision system. In the second part, achievements in building the 'K-CURE' cancer clinical and public library and the open platform 'K-CURE Portal' were shared, and collaboration methods among participating institutions were discussed.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Information Service plan to recruit companies participating in the 'Medical Data Joint Utilization Research Project' by the end of this month, starting with the kick-off meeting, and to hold a data utilization matching day for the medical and industrial sectors in June, promoting demand-customized data utilization.
Also, in the first half of this year, cancer data built through the K-CURE public library, led by the National Cancer Data Center (National Cancer Center), will be opened to researchers.
Eun Seong-ho, Director of Advanced Medical Support at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, "Medical data-centered hospitals are a model leading future healthcare by more meaningfully utilizing clinical data held by medical institutions," and added, "We ask for active participation from medical institutions to promote advanced medical research and digital healthcare through the utilization of medical data."
