On the 24th, Busan City officially began promoting the construction project of the Baseball Hall of Fame, a long-awaited project for over 10 years, following the signing of the 'Amended Implementation Agreement for the Construction of the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame.'
The 'Baseball Hall of Fame Construction Project' is a project jointly hosted by Busan City and Gijang County to commemorate the 100th anniversary of baseball by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). It is planned to be built on a site of 1,852㎡ within Ilgwang Amusement Park (Gijang Baseball Theme Park) in Gijang County, with a scale of one basement floor to three above-ground floors (total floor area of 2,996.2㎡), aiming for completion in 2025 and opening in 2026.
The main contents of the amended implementation agreement signed this time include ▲change of management and operation authority of the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame (from KBO to Gijang County) ▲Busan City's contribution of 10.8 billion KRW for construction costs, design support, and additional construction cost sharing. Through this signing, it is expected that the project will accelerate as it provides an opportunity to actively promote the construction of the Baseball Hall of Fame and Baseball Museum, which will preserve and exhibit the footprints, records, and major artifacts of Korean baseball history.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “If the Hall of Fame, befitting the reputation of Busan as a baseball city, is built along with the largest and first-ever single-sport baseball museum in Korea, it is expected to become a new regional tourist attraction for domestic and international baseball fans and tourists.”
The Baseball Hall of Fame and Baseball Museum plan to hold various events annually, including the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and offer differentiated attractions by combining baseball experiences with cutting-edge digital technology.
