OB Beer announced on the 25th that it has applied a 'No Tray' package, which does not use paper trays, to all 'Cass Fresh' cans (355mL, 500mL) sold at convenience stores.
The liquor industry uses a large number of paper trays to support bundled beer products during packaging. OB Beer was the first in the liquor industry to apply the 'No Tray' package in November 2020 to reduce carbon emissions and paper usage during the packaging production process, completely removing the paper tray from the 355mL 6-can Cass Fresh package supplied to convenience stores.
Since the end of March, the paper tray has also been removed from the 500mL 4-can Cass Fresh package for convenience stores. This is expected to reduce annual paper usage by approximately 687 tons and carbon emissions by about 662 tons.
In the future, OB Beer plans to consider applying the No Tray package to 'Cass' products in various sales channels such as large supermarkets in addition to convenience stores. The company also plans to gradually expand this to its imported beer brands for convenience stores, including Budweiser, Hoegaarden, and Stella, for 330mL canned beers.
