The Namhae Mountaineering Club of the Korea Alpine Federation will hold the 'Azalea Festival and Climbing Competition' on the 29th at Mangunsan, one of the top 100 wildflower spots nationwide.
On the day of the event, the schedule will begin with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. at the public sports ground, followed by a climb along a roughly 5 km course from the entrance of Namsan Park to the forest bathing area, Gwandaebong Peak, Mangunsan summit, azalea colony, and ending at the Mangunsan parking lot.
Participation in the competition is free, and at the destination, Mangunsan parking lot, various programs such as an azalea concert and a prayer ceremony for the well-being of the residents will be held.
The azalea colony at Mangunsan blooms beautifully every year from late April to early May, creating a stunning pink spectacle. Walking along the azalea trail ridge to the summit offers a panoramic view of the blue Namhae Sea.
Shin Hee-cheol, president of the Namhae Mountaineering Club, said, "The Mangunsan Azalea Festival and climbing competition offer new joy and beauty every year, and we ask for the enthusiastic participation and interest of the residents."
