The government is seeking ways to strengthen economic cooperation with Northern Europe.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that a public-private joint economic delegation, led by Moon Dong-min, Standing Commissioner of the Trade Commission, will explore ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries during a two-day visit from the 24th to the 25th to Sweden and Norway.
Commissioner Moon will discuss cooperation in industry, trade, and renewable energy with the Deputy Minister for Trade of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway. Additionally, the economic delegation plans to seek measures to expand trade and investment and supply chain cooperation through 'Business Roundtable' events held in each country.
On the previous day in Sweden, Commissioner Moon met with H?kan Jebrud, Deputy Minister for Trade of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways to expand industrial and investment cooperation between the two countries in areas such as bio, batteries, future cars, renewable energy, supply chains, and digital economic trade.
Companies and institution representatives participating in the 'Korea-Sweden Business Roundtable' shared industrial trends and cooperation cases between the two countries. The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and the Swedish Trade and Invest Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on trade and investment cooperation, laying the foundation for economic cooperation between the two countries.
On the same day, the economic delegation will visit Norway, a strong country in shipbuilding, marine, and renewable energy, to hold the 'Korea-Norway Business Roundtable.' They will meet with Odd Steinar Opdal, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway.
In the meeting with the Norwegian Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Commissioner Moon plans to discuss ways to deepen industrial and trade cooperation in areas such as offshore wind power, hydrogen and other renewable energies, digital transformation, supply chain cooperation, and the shipbuilding industry.
