Dong-A University has signed a business agreement with the Korean Welding and Joining Society.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will carry out collaborative projects to establish and develop a sustainable digital manufacturing innovation ecosystem related to welding manufacturing.
They also plan to actively promote matters necessary for the relocation of the society to Busan and the establishment of the Korean Welding and Joining Research Institute.
The signing ceremony held on the 21st at the main conference room of Dong-A University Seunghak Campus was attended by Dong-A University President Lee Hae-woo, Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation Kim Sung-jae, Professors Shin Yong-taek (Student and Employment Support Office Director) and Kim Jeong-hwan of the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Professor Moon Jong-hyun of the Field Training Support Center, and Team Leader Bae Jae-il of the Ship and Ocean Systems Research Institute.
From the Korean Welding and Joining Society, President Park Jeong-ung, Research Director Kang Bong-yong, Vice President of Business Kim Yu-chan, Academic Committee Chair Kang Nam-hyun, General Affairs Director Jo Dae-won, and Director Hwang Hee-yong attended.

원본보기 아이콘President Lee, who also served as Vice President of the Korean Welding and Joining Society, said, “We intend to closely cooperate with the society for joint policy research to build a digital ecosystem for welding technology and to strengthen the industry-academia-research network for technology development.”
He added, “I hope this agreement will become a model case that positively influences the mutual development of universities, societies, and industries, as well as the advancement of the welding and joining field.”
President Park said, “Based on Busan’s R&D projects, we want to actively promote cooperative projects with Dong-A University to rapidly achieve manufacturing innovation for companies.”
The Korean Welding and Joining Society was founded in October 1982 and has led academic achievements and the development of related industries such as steel and shipbuilding. It is also actively supporting key technology fields where welding technology development is urgently needed, including the hydrogen economy, electric vehicles, aerospace, defense, shipbuilding, and semiconductors.
