Daegu City Council Enters 300th Extraordinary Session... Reviews 28 Agenda Items Over 10 Days

The Daegu Metropolitan Council (Chairman Lee Mankyu) will hold the 300th extraordinary session for 10 days from the 25th to May 4th, reviewing 28 agenda items including proposed and revised ordinances, and conducting industrial site visits as part of its legislative activities.


On the first day of the session, the 25th, to commemorate the 300th session held with the citizens of Daegu, Chairman Lee Mankyu of the Daegu Metropolitan Council will deliver a commemorative speech, followed by congratulatory remarks from Mayor Hong Junpyo and Superintendent of Education Kang Eunhee, along with a commemorative performance, reaffirming the council's commitment to a ‘people-first policy council’ that approaches citizens more closely.

During this session, the Daegu Metropolitan Council will review a total of 28 agenda items, including 24 proposed and revised ordinances, 2 consent items, and 2 public notices.


The proposed and revised ordinances scheduled for review include a wide range of bills introduced by council members, such as the Ordinance on Emergency Medical Support in Daegu (Councilor Im Inhwan, Jung-gu 1), Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on the Operation of Various Awards in Daegu (Councilor Lee Jaesuk, Dong-gu 4), Ordinance on Legal Support to Prevent Debt Inheritance from Parents to Children and Adolescents in Daegu (Councilor Jeong Ilgyun, Suseong-gu 1), Ordinance on Scholarship Grants for Children of Environmental Public Officials in Daegu (Councilor Ha Byeongmun, Buk-gu 4), Ordinance on the Development and Support of Rural Development Projects in Daegu (Councilor Lee Taeson, Dalseo-gu 4), Ordinance on Prevention of Traffic Accidents Involving Elderly Drivers in Daegu (Councilor Park Soyoung, Dong-gu 2), Ordinance on Support for Remodeling of Aged Apartment Complexes in Daegu (Councilor Heo Siyoung, Dalseo-gu 2), Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Apartment Complex Management in Daegu (Councilor Yoon Gwongeun, Dalseo-gu 5), Ordinance on Promotion of 4th Industrial Revolution Education by Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Councilor Lee Dongwook, Buk-gu 5), and Ordinance on Earthquake Disaster Prevention and Countermeasures by Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Councilor Hwang Sunja, Dalseo-gu 3).


Additionally, the council will review ordinances related to the incorporation of Gunwi County, including a full revision of the Daegu Administrative Organization and Staffing Ordinance for efficient organization operation following the passage of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport Special Act and Gunwi incorporation; a partial amendment to the Daegu Delegation of Authority Ordinance to reorganize duties due to changes in jurisdiction caused by Gunwi incorporation; and a partial amendment to the Daegu Volunteer Fire Brigade Establishment and Operation Ordinance to organize the Gunwi County Volunteer Fire Brigade under Daegu’s Volunteer Fire Brigade. These ordinances will ensure smooth preparation for Gunwi County’s incorporation into Daegu, scheduled for July 1st.


Following the 1st plenary session on the 25th, agenda items will be reviewed from the 26th to May 3rd, with visits to administrative sites to directly hear the voices of citizens and field workers and carefully examine the progress of city administration.


At 10 a.m. on May 4th, the 2nd plenary session will be held to conduct 5-minute free speeches, process agenda items approved by each standing committee, and adjourn the 300th extraordinary session.
