Park Kang-soo, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the donation ceremony for the Mapo Welfare Foundation held on the 24th in the district office policy meeting room with announcer Lee Jae-yong, MC Dingdong, and Boramchansanghoe.


Lee Jae-yong, ambassador of the Hyo-do Bapsang (Filial Piety Meal) campaign, donated 5 million KRW, and MC Dingdong donated all the appearance fees from the ‘1st Mapo People’s Festival’ held on the 19th to support the community participation Hyo-do Bapsang.

Additionally, Boramchansanghoe donated food ingredients worth 3 million KRW to the 1st Mapo People’s Festival.


Mayor Park Kang-soo expressed gratitude to the generous donors and said, “Especially with the pilot project of Hyo-do Bapsang starting, many elderly people are looking forward to it,” adding, “We will strive for the successful implementation of the Hyo-do Bapsang project by using the interest, encouragement, and support from many people as a stepping stone.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, presented commendation certificates on the 24th to those who have contributed to community harmony and regional development.


At 5 p.m. in the district office’s large conference room, Mayor Kim held a commendation ceremony for model and exemplary citizens, awarding certificates to 13 citizens who have contributed to the community through talent donation, volunteer activities, and other means.


Among the awardees, Go Dong-jin from Banghwa 3-dong was recognized for his participation in food-sharing volunteer activities for vulnerable elderly people; Lee Chang-joo was acknowledged for operating the Gangseo Food Bank Market, providing meals for vulnerable groups and functioning as a private social safety net; Lee Geum-seon was commended for continuous volunteer work delivering donated goods to vulnerable neighbors through the Gangseo Food Bank Market.

Kim Dong-ryeong, Lee Chan-sook, and Jo Il-soon from Deungchon 3-dong were praised for serving as community leaders for years, acting as bridges between the district office and vulnerable residents; Park Yong-deok and Son Gil-ja from Hwagok Bon-dong, and Lee Jong-baek from Balsan 1-dong were highly evaluated for their disaster prevention and COVID-19 quarantine activities contributing to a safe community.


Bae Ki-soon from Hwagok 3-dong was recognized for active participation in various volunteer activities and local events; Lee Jae-hak from Ujangsan-dong was acknowledged for contributions to the Hope Dream Team projects such as the Love Kimchi Sharing event and scholarship award ceremonies.


Goo Seong-eun from Balsan 1-dong was commended for book lending volunteer work at Naebalsan Small Library; Lee Seong-soon from Gonghang-dong was highly praised for delivering side dishes to elderly living alone and discovering households in welfare blind spots, serving as a role model in the community.


Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I deeply thank the volunteers who have devoted themselves to creating a warm community by serving neighbors in welfare blind spots beyond administrative reach,” adding, “The district will build a thorough social welfare network and carefully watch over marginalized neighbors.”

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong District, visited LG Science Park in Magok on the 19th and emphasized the importance of win-win cooperation between large corporations and local governments for digital advancement.


Established in 2018, LG Science Park is the largest convergence research complex in Korea, housing about 20,000 researchers from affiliates, partners, and startups.


During the visit, Mayor Kim toured LG Science Park, met with LG CNS officials, and received explanations about the national pilot city project. She then held discussions with stakeholders for Smart City Eunpyeong.


They formed a consensus on the need for technology development to alleviate difficulties faced by digital vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled in a digitally transforming society and exchanged opinions on the direction of digital advancement.

At the meeting with LG officials, Mayor Kim requested the social role of technologically capable companies in the digital era and stressed the necessity of developing digital technologies for socially vulnerable elderly and disabled people.


Going forward, the district plans to continue increasing opportunities for staff to visit innovative facilities and receive training to enhance their work capabilities in response to new changes.
