Fire in Changnyeong Namji Reed Field at Midnight... Cause Suspected to Be a Cigarette?

At around 12:11 AM on the 24th, a fire broke out in a reed field near the Jungbu Naeryuk Expressway in Namji-eup, Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam, burning 2,000㎡ of the reed field and some underbrush.


According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire was extinguished at around 2:10 AM, and the fire department estimates property damage of approximately 110,000 won.


Fire and police authorities are investigating the exact circumstances, suspecting that a cigarette butt thrown by a driver passing on the nearby expressway caused the fire.
