Hampyeong-gun Provides Field Training on 'Rice and Soybean Cultivation Techniques' to Address Rice Oversupply

For Over 100 Local Farmers

On the 21st, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 24th that it conducted an on-site training session on 'Paddy Field Soybean Cultivation Techniques' for about 100 farmers at the Agricultural Technology Center Flower Food Education Hall.

This training was held as part of the strategic crop (soybean) direct payment project and appropriate rice production measures, inviting Lee Nam-ju, CEO of Jangseong Hwangryong Consignment Farming Corporation.

Through the lecture, CEO Lee Nam-ju shared field experience and know-how ranging from the importance of selecting soybean seeds to appropriate fertilization, pesticide application, drainage management methods, harvesting, and drying according to the physiological characteristics of soybeans.

A county official stated, “To solve the problem of rice oversupply, in addition to the strategic crop direct payment project, we are promoting incentive policies such as additional allocation of public stockpiled rice to farms that have signed agreements to reduce rice cultivation areas,” urging active participation from farmers.

Meanwhile, the strategic crop direct payment project is a selective public interest direct payment project that reorganizes and expands the existing paddy double-cropping direct payment project, providing national subsidies proportional to the area when strategic crops (soybeans, summer forage crops, powdered rice) are cultivated instead of rice in paddy fields.
