Incheon Namdong-gu Supports Postpartum Care Expenses for Vulnerable Birth Families... First in Incheon

Namdong-gu, Incheon, will provide postpartum care expenses to alleviate the financial burden on vulnerable families with newborns.

The district announced on the 24th that starting next month, it will support postpartum care expenses of 1.5 million KRW for vulnerable mothers in the area.

The support for postpartum care expenses for families with newborns is a pledge project of the 8th local government term, and Namdong-gu is the first in Incheon to initiate it.

If a postpartum care center is used for more than 7 days, up to 1.5 million KRW will be supported if applied for within 60 days after discharge from the center.

The support targets vulnerable mothers such as basic livelihood security recipients and low-income families who have given birth after May 1 of this year and have resided in Namdong-gu for more than 6 months based on the newborn's birth date.

Mothers from general families who have given birth to multiples or a third child or more can also receive the same support. The district allocated 300 million KRW from the first supplementary budget this year for this project.

Park Jong-hyo, Mayor of Namdong-gu, said, "Amid the serious low birthrate issue, we will continue to strive to help healthy pregnancies and childbirths and reduce the financial burden of childbirth to create a favorable environment for having children."

Meanwhile, Namdong-gu is promoting various projects not only supporting postpartum care expenses but also maternal and newborn health management support, operating prenatal health classes, breastfeeding love classes, and free health checkups in early pregnancy for happy pregnancies and healthy childbirths.
