Jeju Air "Avoid Peak Season for This Summer Vacation"

Jeju Air announced on the 24th that the results of a survey conducted through its SNS over three weeks from the 29th of last month to the 19th showed that "many travelers plan to avoid the peak season and travel to nearby areas for this summer vacation."

Among the 742 respondents, 673 (91%) have summer vacation plans. Of these, 354 (53%) plan to travel during the peak summer months of July and August, while 282 (42%) plan to take their vacation in May, June, September, or October to avoid the peak season.

Notably, half (148 respondents, 52%) of those who chose May-June and September-October answered that they selected these periods because "travel costs are high during the summer peak season (July-August)." This was followed by "these periods are suitable for travel (75 respondents, 27%)" and "to align with company or school schedules (68 respondents, 24%)."

When asked about preferred travel destinations, 449 respondents (67%) chose short- to medium-distance regions, 163 (24%) selected domestic areas, and 61 (9%) considered long-distance destinations.

Among short- to medium-distance regions, Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, etc.) ranked first with 31% (140 respondents), followed by Greater China (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.) at 14% (64 respondents). Oceania (Guam, Saipan) and Vietnam (Da Nang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, etc.) each recorded 14% (63 respondents), tying for third place. For domestic travel, Jeju Island was the top choice with 77% (125 respondents), while Europe (London, Paris, Rome, etc.) was the most popular long-distance destination at 57% (36 respondents).

Additionally, among respondents planning summer vacations, 464 (69%) expressed a preference for "short trips lasting 3 to 6 days." Nine out of ten preferred independent travel, which allows flexible scheduling, over package tours organized by travel agencies.

Regarding expected expenses per person, respondents indicated 300,000 to 500,000 KRW for domestic travel, 500,000 to 700,000 KRW for short-distance travel, 700,000 to 1,000,000 KRW for medium-distance travel, and 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 KRW for long-distance travel.

A Jeju Air representative stated, "Recently, even during off-peak seasons, there has been an increase in customers taking short overseas trips of less than three days by utilizing weekends or annual leave," adding, "Now, the trend of enjoying niche travel throughout the year is spreading."
