The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) will hold the '2023 Korea-Japan Manufacturing Industry Expo' on the 25th at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. The Korea-Japan Manufacturing Industry Expo is the first manufacturing industry consultation event held in Tokyo since the Japanese government eased entry restrictions. A total of 150 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies from the advanced manufacturing sector in both Korea and Japan will participate.
From Korea, 50 companies specializing in key fields such as electric vehicle (EV) parts, high-efficiency mechanical components, factory automation (FA) equipment, and robotics will take part in this event. They are expected to hold over 200 export consultations with 100 potential business partners. The event will be conducted with Japanese Monozukuri (a manufacturing culture based on craftsmanship) companies that boast top market shares, including commercial vehicle manufacturers.
On-site, four business agreements between companies from both countries will be signed for export transactions involving industrial cleaning robots and heat wires for freeze prevention. KOTRA explained that this could generate export effects worth approximately $20 million.
Jung Wiyoung, Head of KOTRA's Innovation Growth Division, said, “We will quickly disseminate to the domestic industry the export opportunities arising from market changes in response to Japan's digital transformation (DX) and green innovation (GX) initiatives. This year, KOTRA will actively support to ensure that our export companies regain momentum in entering the Japanese market.”
Meanwhile, KOTRA plans to establish a cooperative system with the Korea Testing Certification (KTC) to resolve difficulties faced by our parts and materials companies entering the Japanese market.
