Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, and Genesis announced on the 24th that they won awards in five categories at the prestigious global design awards, the Red Dot Award and the Car Design Award.
At the "2023 Red Dot Award: Product Design," hosted by the North Rhine-Westphalia Design Center in Germany, four products from Hyundai Motor Group received main awards. This award is globally recognized alongside Germany's iF Design Award and the United States' IDEA. This year, over 7,900 entries from 60 countries worldwide were submitted.
Hyundai Motor's fully redesigned Grandeur was selected as a main award winner in the transportation design category, and the E-pit ultra-fast charger won in the urban design category. The Grandeur was praised for inheriting the essence of past models with a modern sensibility while effectively embodying the image of a flagship sedan. The E-pit charger features a compact design suitable for urban environments, harmonizing well with various cityscapes.
Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Genesis G90 received main awards in the transportation design category of the Red Dot Award. Genesis's first convertible concept car, the "X Convertible," was selected as the Concept Car of the Year at the "Car Design Award 2023," hosted by the Italian automotive and industrial design magazine Auto and Design. The design effectively utilizes the convertible’s retractable roof and the quiet characteristics of electric vehicles.
A Hyundai Motor Group official stated, "This award is the result of the passion and efforts of designers and engineers to realize world-class design competitiveness," adding, "We will continue to showcase differentiated designs for future mobility to provide customers with new experiences and value."
