The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 24th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (President Kim Nam-gyun, hereinafter referred to as KERI) for "business cooperation to promote structural innovation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in new technology fields such as electrification." Both organizations agreed on the need for SMEs to transform their structure into new businesses through technological support in order to create sustainable growth momentum amid the acceleration of industrial transformation.
SBC, together with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, is promoting the "Structural Innovation Support Project" to help small and medium ventures successfully transition to new businesses in response to changes in the industrial environment such as digitalization and carbon neutrality. It provides diagnostic consulting and links various policy projects to support business, digital, and job transitions for companies seeking to switch to new industries.
Focusing on the Structural Innovation Support Project, SBC and KERI agreed to actively cooperate in ▲ collaborative support for structural innovation toward new business fields ▲ technical support including testing and certification, as well as technical consultation and advice ▲ planning and operation of training programs in new technology fields such as electrification, motors, and medical devices ▲ resolving technical difficulties and supporting technology localization for companies expanding overseas.
Furthermore, the two organizations plan to support SME structural innovation by establishing a mutual cooperation system for resolving technical difficulties and designing training courses. Based on this MOU, SBC intends to discover excellent cases of structural innovation support in the technology sector and continuously identify demand companies together with KERI to generate results.
Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC, stated, "We will actively support small and medium ventures to wisely overcome the crisis of industrial transformation and secure new growth engines." He added, "SBC will continue efforts to create a structural innovation ecosystem by expanding cooperative relationships with specialized institutions across various industrial sectors."
