Hapcheon-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution in Public Data Provision Operation Evaluation

Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 24th that it has been selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years in the ‘2022 Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, following 2020 and 2021.


This evaluation is conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety under the ‘Act on the Provision and Activation of Public Data,’ targeting 570 institutions including central government ministries, local governments, and public institutions. It comprehensively assesses five areas?public data management system, public data opening, public data utilization, public data quality, and others (including bonus/penalty points)?across 16 indicators, assigning each institution a grade of ‘Excellent,’ ‘Average,’ or ‘Poor’ based on their level of public data provision and operation.


In this evaluation, the county achieved first grade in 11 out of the 16 indicators across the five areas of public data management system, opening, utilization, and quality, earning a score of 97.12 points, which is 41.09 points higher than the average score of 56.03 points for basic local governments.

In particular, the public data management system and utilization areas received the highest score of 100 points (the national average scores for basic local governments were 47.91 and 54.68 points, respectively).


This demonstrates that Hapcheon-gun’s public data management system, aimed at expanding user-centered public data opening and sharing, is thoroughly managed, and that data utilization through this system is actively taking place.


County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol stated, “Data-driven, objective, and scientific administration not only helps solve local community issues but also greatly aids in discovering services that residents can feel directly.” He added, “For this, data opening and efficient management in the public sector must be prioritized. We will continue to actively discover various data held by the administration and strive to share and utilize data across diverse fields through optimal quality management.”


Hapcheon-gun was also selected as an ‘Excellent Institution’ for two consecutive years in the ‘2022 Data-Based Administration Status Inspection’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, targeting 467 institutions including central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions, following 2021.
