Samsung Electronics has been ordered by a jury to pay $303 million (4.035 trillion KRW) in damages in a semiconductor patent infringement lawsuit filed in the United States.
Foreign media reported that on the 21st (local time), a jury at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled in favor of U.S. semiconductor company Netlist in its memory patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung Electronics.
The jury found that Samsung Electronics' memory modules used in high-performance computers infringed on five of Netlist's patents and awarded damages exceeding $303 million.
In 2021, Netlist filed a lawsuit claiming that Samsung's memory products used in cloud computing servers and other data technologies infringed on its patents, demanding $404 million in damages.
Samsung Electronics has countered by arguing that Netlist's patents are invalid and that its technology operates differently from Netlist's technology.
