Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing that "resolving the Taiwan issue is the business of the Chinese people themselves."

Spokesperson Wang emphasized, "There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory," adding, "The Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair and is at the core of China's core interests."

He continued, "The fundamental cause of the tension in the Taiwan Strait in recent years is the separatist activities of Taiwan independence elements inside the island, supported and instigated by external forces," and added, "Taiwan independence acts and peace and stability cannot coexist like water and fire."

Wang Wenbin stated, "North Korea and South Korea are both sovereign states that have joined the United Nations, and the nature and circumstances of the Korean Peninsula issue and the Taiwan issue are completely different, so they are not comparable," and expressed hope that "South Korea properly adheres to the spirit of the China-South Korea joint communiqu? on establishing diplomatic relations, strictly observes the 'One China' principle, and handles the Taiwan issue prudently."

Earlier, in an interview with foreign media reported on the 19th, President Yoon said, "(Regarding the tension in the Taiwan Strait) this tension arose due to attempts to change the status quo by force," and added, "We absolutely oppose any attempt to change the status quo by force together with the international community."
