The candidate for the president of Seoul Metro is expected to be announced on the morning of the 21st.
According to Seoul City on the 20th, Mayor Oh Se-hoon originally planned to appoint the next president of Seoul Metro in the afternoon of the same day.
Earlier, the Seoul Metro President Recommendation Committee submitted two candidates, Baek Ho, former Director of Urban Transportation at Seoul City, and Hwang Chun-ja, former Head of Management Innovation at Seoul Metro, to Seoul City as candidates for the president through document screening and interviews. However, since the background check results for the two candidates arrived on the afternoon of the 20th, it is reported that the announcement will be made after Mayor Oh’s approval on the morning of the 21st.
Former Director Baek Ho is regarded as the right person to solve pressing issues such as Seoul Metro’s chronic deficits and public transportation fare increases. In particular, attention is focused on whether he will be selected, as it is known that Mayor Oh recommended him for the position of president.
Former Head Hwang Chun-ja is known for her outstanding leadership, having been appointed as the first female executive at Seoul Metro. She later transformed into a politician, serving as the Saenuri Party Yongsan District Chairman and a candidate for Yongsan District Mayor.
Among these two candidates, the one chosen by Mayor Oh Se-hoon will be nominated as the president candidate of Seoul Metro and will be finalized after going through the personnel hearing of the Seoul City Transportation Committee (Chairman Park Jung-hwa), scheduled to be held after May 4.
