He also emphasized that measures would be prepared and implemented to allow transportation-vulnerable individuals to freely move across all 31 cities and counties within the province.
On the 20th, marking 'Disability Day,' Governor Kim posted on his social networking service (SNS), stating, "I attended the 43rd Disability Day commemorative ceremony by riding the 'GoyohanM' taxi operated by a hearing-impaired driver," and shared his experience, saying, "It was quiet, safe, and convenient."
He continued, "In early April, I met Kim Mi-ha, who was given a terminal cancer diagnosis while raising her developmentally disabled siblings alone," and pledged, "I promise 'uninterrupted care' for her children and will do my part to support the care and independence of people with disabilities."
He added, "At today's ceremony, I promised to establish a '24-hour care system for people with the most severe developmental disabilities' and announced measures to enable 'any transportation-vulnerable person to freely move across all 31 cities and counties in the province.'"
Furthermore, he said, "Even though we only solved some inconveniences, restrictions, and issues that non-disabled people do not experience or have to worry about, we received warm cheers and applause from the attendees," and promised, "We will not stop here and will resolve each issue one by one to ensure that differences between people with and without disabilities do not lead to discrimination."
Earlier that day, Governor Kim attended the '43rd Gyeonggi Province Disability Day Commemorative Ceremony' held at Lavideol Resort in Hwaseong City, stating, "We must provide more and more equitable opportunities for people with disabilities whose freedom is restricted," and explained, "If we steadily pursue this during my term, Gyeonggi Province will at least show a more advanced stance than other local or central governments."
He then announced that Gyeonggi Province's disability policy direction would be pursued in three categories: ▲economic freedom ▲social participation ▲social care.
