Medical O is a life care brand holding seven patents for traditional Korean medicine treatments for skin diseases. It operates seven directly managed skin-specialized Korean medicine clinics nationwide and is preparing to open the country's first hotel-style cancer treatment facility. This facility is a medical wellness model that provides premium services to help female cancer patients focus on recovery. Going forward, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts plans to jointly attract a medical wellness model within its owned sites together with Medical O.

Hanwha Hotels & Resorts has identified a medical wellness model that helps recover health and boost immunity in nature as a future growth engine after COVID-19. The company aims to secure a leading position in the medical tourism market by partnering with Medical O, a specialized treatment facility. Hanwha Resort Geoje Belvedere has been selected as a 'Recommended Wellness Tourism Destination' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization. The company expects that this agreement will create greater added value by combining wellness and medical services.

As a pilot project, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts and Medical O plan to provide all services from accommodation to treatment at once for foreign guests at The Plaza. Medical O is registered as an institution for attracting foreign patients with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, enabling accommodation linkage with Hanwha Hotels & Resorts. According to the Health Industry Development Institute, the expenditure on foreign medical tourism in Korea before COVID-19 reached 3.0331 trillion won.

Kim Hyeong-jo, CEO of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, said, "By adding Medical O's medical technology to Hanwha Resort's nationwide resort infrastructure, we will transform into a true wellness sanctuary," and added, "The collaboration between the two companies will greatly contribute to regional economic development and the activation of foreign medical tourism."
