Busan Port Authority (BPA) has achieved the highest rating, the top excellence grade, in the '2022 Public Institution Win-Win Growth Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
This highest rating achievement is the first since BPA's establishment and follows the accomplishment of receiving a first-grade rating in the integrity evaluation hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in January.
The 'Public Institution Win-Win Growth Evaluation' is a system initiated with the purpose of having the public sector take a leading role in cooperative growth with small and medium enterprises, and it has been conducted annually since 2007.
This year, 134 public institutions participated in the evaluation, and BPA earned the top excellence grade through continuous expansion of win-win growth activities.
BPA established a 16 billion KRW scale win-win fund to support the resolution of financial difficulties for 67 small and medium enterprises, and implemented various financial support measures such as reducing rent and usage fees for about 300 companies using the facilities owned by the authority.
Additionally, to promote eco-friendly port construction, BPA collaborated with small and medium enterprises to use recycled materials (recycled aggregate), generating approximately 1.7 billion KRW in sales for these SMEs.
The use of recycled aggregate created about 7.6 billion KRW in economic and environmental benefits and also achieved a cost reduction effect of about 4.06 billion KRW in port construction expenses.
BPA actively pursued activities to expand value sharing by implementing 126 performance-sharing projects and 22 cooperative profit-sharing projects linked with productivity improvement and ESG innovation support programs.
A BPA official evaluated, "The selection as the top excellence institution in win-win growth is a result that demonstrates BPA's commitment to coexistence with small and medium enterprises."
Kang Jun-seok, President of the Port Authority, said, "We have reaped the fruit of being selected as the top excellence institution through continuous and diverse customized support projects for SMEs in Busan Port," adding, "We will continue to play a leading role in building a win-win growth ecosystem."
Previously, BPA was recognized for its contributions to ▲large and small business win-win cooperation ▲sustainable management ▲traditional market revitalization, achieving a triple crown of ministerial commendations.
