Gwangju Dong-gu, Disabled Persons Day Commemoration Event

Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, recently announced on the 20th that it held the '43rd Disability Day Commemoration Event.'

Jingeon, President of the Gwangju Disabled Persons' Federation, and about 400 disabled residents from the district were invited to participate in the event, which was divided into Part 1: Commemoration Ceremony and Part 2: Harmony Festival.

Kim Jaeseok, President of the Dong-gu Disabled Persons' Association, which organized the event, said, "I am proud that through today's commemoration event, disabled and non-disabled people could empathize and communicate together," adding, "We will continue to make greater efforts to improve social awareness of disabled persons and to create opportunities to raise interest and understanding."

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "We are striving to provide various welfare services for disabled persons, including operating a lifelong learning city for the disabled," and added, "We will take the lead in creating a city where disabled and non-disabled people live together happily without discrimination."
