The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency will form an anti-corruption promotion council and hold its first regular meeting at 9 a.m. on the 21st to foster an honest organizational culture.
At the meeting, they plan to discuss checking anti-corruption promotion tasks, identifying issues, and improving corruption-prone areas in preparation for the 2023 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
In the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, announced in January, the National Police Agency received an overall grade of 4, while the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency achieved an excellent result with an overall grade of 2.
The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption Promotion Council, led by the head of the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, includes three department heads and five anti-corruption-related section chiefs, and plans to hold four regular meetings annually to inspect and improve corruption-prone areas.
Kim Su-young, head of the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, is expected to emphasize at the meeting that "integrity is one of the most important values in the public service sector, and improving integrity requires empathy and participation from internal members to improve organizational culture. In particular, the leadership and middle managers must lead by example."
Chief Kim will also urge that "integrity should not be limited to the concept of anti-corruption but should include thinking from and respecting the perspective of civil petitioners. The concept of integrity is expanding to include kindness, promptness, and fairness in handling tasks, and it is a policing service that meets the public's expectations."
