Connecting a 660m Section of the Yangjicheon Stream Walking Trail in Yongin

Yongin City connected a 660m section near Yongma Elementary School to link the previously disconnected Yangjicheon walking trail.

The Yangjicheon walking trail in Mapyeong-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, will be connected into one continuous path.

On the 20th, Yongin City announced that it has connected a 660-meter section from Gojincheon Bridge in Mapyeong-dong, Cheoin-gu, where the trail was previously interrupted, to the confluence with Gyeongan Stream. As a result, the entire Yangjicheon walking trail (3.52 km) can now be used continuously on foot.

This walking trail is heavily trafficked by citizens as it is located near Yongma Elementary School, Deokyoung High School, as well as densely populated apartment complexes and multi-family housing. However, the trail, which starts at 110-6 Mapyeong-dong (Sinpyeonggyo Bridge), was interrupted at Gojincheon Bridge, causing inconvenience for pedestrians.

In response, the city invested 2 billion KRW starting from February last year as part of the riverbank environment improvement project around the Sports Complex to construct the walking trail.

The natural riverbank was laid to preserve the river’s natural ecology as much as possible, creating a safe space for citizens to walk. The trail was then smoothly paved. Wooden stairs and streetlights were also installed, and dredging work was completed to ensure proper water flow during the rainy season’s heavy downpours.

A city official stated, "By connecting the previously interrupted Yangjicheon walking trail, not only the entire 3.52 km section but also the Gyeongan Stream walking trail can now be smoothly used on foot or by bicycle. We will continue to efficiently improve the areas around the rivers to provide citizens with pleasant waterfront spaces."
