The representative of the production company for the documentary film about former President Moon Jae-in, titled 'Moon Jae-in Imnida,' clarified that "incorrect information is spreading" regarding an interview video released on a YouTube channel.
On the 19th, Kim Seong-woo, CEO of Dice Film, the production company of 'Moon Jae-in Imnida,' issued an official statement asking for corrections, saying, "Incorrect information is spreading about the exclusive footage released on the 14th through 'Kim Eo-jun's Das Bweida,' and we kindly ask for rectification."
In a clip of 'Moon Jae-in Imnida' recently released on the YouTube channel 'Kim Eo-jun's Das Bweida,' former President Moon said, "The achievements over five years were not just my achievements but those of the people and the Republic of Korea together. Seeing them collapse in an instant and revert to the past makes me feel somewhat empty."
Following this, an interview audio of a woman was inserted, saying, "Sometimes, after five years, I wonder where I stand now. There are days when I think about whether what I did while losing sleep over state affairs is all going to hit rock bottom, and I feel very empty and wonder if this is how it will end."
In relation to this, some speculated that the voice might be that of Kim Jung-sook, the wife of former President Moon Jae-in. Consequently, some politicians posted related comments on social media platforms.
Kim Seong-woo clarified, "The female voice in the released clip is not that of Kim Jung-sook. It is the interview voice of Choi Soo-yeon, a colleague who worked with former President Moon during his time as a lawyer in civil society movements. Kim Jung-sook did not participate in the interviews for this film."
Kim also stated, "The footage released in the broadcast was filmed during the production of 'Moon Jae-in Imnida,' but it has not yet been confirmed whether it will be included in the final version of the film. The movie is currently in the final editing stages ahead of its premiere at the Jeonju International Film Festival on April 29."
He added, "This film is a work that director Lee Chang-jae has prepared over a long period with the passion of a documentarian who wants to explore 'the person Moon Jae-in,' not with any political intent. We hope viewers will watch the film and make their own judgments."
'Moon Jae-in Imnida' is a documentary-style film depicting former President Moon Jae-in living as a free man in Pyeongsan Village one year after his retirement. The production company explained that it captures the humble and natural daily life of 'the person Moon Jae-in,' including scenes of him smiling brightly while holding carrots he personally harvested from a garden tended with his secretaries, spending time alone with books in his study, and sitting comfortably with his family.
The film is directed by Lee Chang-jae, who also directed 'Between' (2006), 'On the Road' (2012), and 'This Is Not a Robbery' (2017).
