Coway Receives Korea Institute of Industrial Technology President's Award at 'Korea Packaging Expo'

Coway (CEO Seo Jang-won) announced on the 19th that it received the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology President's Award at the '2023 Korea Packaging Exhibition'. Hosted by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Packaging Technology Center and organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Packaging Exhibition is a system that selects and awards excellent technologies and products in the packaging industry. The evaluation reflects the standards of the Act on Resource Saving and Recycling Promotion.

The awarded product this time is Coway's paper water purifier introduced under the concept of 'Up-cycling'. It is an eco-friendly product made using paper instead of plastic for the product exterior, and it was designed so that the packaging materials, which were previously discarded, can be assembled as the exterior case of the water purifier. The internal components are modularized with a single material without assembly screws, making separation and disposal easy, and eco-friendly paper packaging is used even for the product's cushioning materials to increase resource circulation rates. It operates with a non-powered direct water supply method, requiring no separate electricity, and is ultra-compact in size.

Park Chan-jung, head of Coway's Environmental Technology Research Institute, said, "Coway actively evaluates environmental impacts throughout the entire process from product development, production, to disposal, and carries out activities to improve resource efficiency and reduce carbon emissions." He added, "We will continue to recognize corporate environmental responsibility and strive to develop eco-friendly products."
