Key participants of the World Tea Summit (summit meeting) include Ian Gibbs, chairman of the International Tea Committee established in 1933, Maria Kachman, chairwoman of the Belgium Tea Association, and 14 world tea leaders.

The World Tea Summit is a program where representatives of the global tea industry gather to discuss their respective presentation topics, covering post-COVID global tea market trends, tea consumption status in various countries, tea import conditions, and strategies for tea market penetration.

The 14 world tea leaders participating in the World Tea Summit will also serve as judges for the ‘Tea Masters Cup National Representative Selection Contest,’ held as a side event.

The ‘Tea Masters Cup National Representative Selection Contest,’ an international tea competition with participation from over 40 countries, plans to select winners in four categories: △Tea Preparation, △Tea Pairing, △Tea Cupping, and △Tea Mixology.

The winner of the Tea Masters Cup competition will receive the opportunity to participate in the ‘World Tea Masters Cup’ held in winter 2023, with full support for airfare and accommodation expenses provided by the Korea Tea Committee.

William Lee, Secretary General of the Korea Tea Committee, said, “The World Tea Summit aims to enhance the quality of the tea summit by inviting high-level dignitaries related to the global tea industry.”

County Governor Kim Cheol-woo stated, “Boseong green tea is evolving beyond just a beverage to encompass culture and industry.” He added, “To further promote Boseong tea expanding globally, we aim to develop various foods using tea and promote the excellence of Boseong tea worldwide through exchanges with advanced tea culture countries.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Tea Committee, established in 1997, is responsible for organizing the ‘Tea Masters Cup’ Korean national representative selection contest and has recently hosted events such as the ‘Moonlight Tea Gathering’ at the Gwangju National Asia Culture Center and the ‘Tea Carnival’ at the Suncheon Bay Ecological Education Center.
