Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) is participating in the 'Thousand-Won Breakfast' project to promote the consumption of Gyeonggi rice and provide healthy breakfasts to university students.

The Thousand-Won Breakfast project is an initiative led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to provide quality breakfasts to university students, with 41 universities nationwide, including 11 universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, participating.

GH decided to support the project to achieve two goals: boosting the consumption of agricultural products from Gyeonggi Province and providing quality meals to the youth.

The support is provided at "1,000 won per meal per person," and in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fishery Promotion Agency, GH will deliver Gyeonggi rice or funds worth approximately 20 million won to 11 universities in the metropolitan area. This is an additional support separate from the government’s funding, making the total budget around 220 million won.

Kim Se-yong, President of GH, stated, "We decided to support the Thousand-Won Breakfast project to contribute to promoting rice consumption and resolving breakfast skipping among young people. We hope GH’s support will serve as a catalyst for more university students to have healthy meals, and we will continue to work on solving social issues to provide practical help to Gyeonggi Province and its residents."

Since 2015, GH has also been practicing social contribution activities in the education and culture sector, such as annually sponsoring 100 high school students in the province with scholarships totaling 100 million won.
