The Yeosu Maritime Police Station in Jeollanam-do (Chief Park Je-su) announced, "A man in his 70s went fishing on the rocky shore at Yeosu Yeondo and has since lost contact. Patrol boats and rescue teams are conducting intensive search operations."
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, on the 18th at around 8:28 PM, Mr. A (male, in his 70s) went fishing on the rocky shore near the lighthouse at Yeokpo Port, Nam-myeon, and has been out of contact since. The case was reported via 112.
Upon receiving the report, Yeosu Maritime Police dispatched patrol boats and rescue teams, and requested cooperation from nearby private fishing vessels to jointly search for the missing resident Mr. A.
Additionally, since the last phone call with his wife at around 3:40 PM yesterday, there has been no contact, and the possibility of a maritime accident is being considered as the search continues intensively.
Currently, Yeosu Maritime Police are deploying five patrol boats and two private fishing vessels to conduct a focused search of the nearby waters, while rescue divers from the maritime police are continuing underwater search operations.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, "We are conducting intensive search operations in cooperation with related agencies to find the missing person. We ask that any nearby vessels navigating or fishing report immediately if they spot anything."
