Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 19th a field support plan in case a student is confirmed with COVID-19 during an on-site experiential learning program.
Busan Office of Education stated on the 19th that if students in the Busan area are confirmed with COVID-19 during on-site experiential learning and need to stay locally, related expenses will be supported.
This measure is due to most schools planning to operate overnight on-site experiential learning programs while some quarantine guidelines, such as the mandatory isolation period for confirmed COVID-19 cases, remain in effect.
The Office of Education formed a ‘COVID-19 Response Emergency Support Team’ led by the Director of the School Safety General Division.
The support team will directly visit the site if multiple confirmed cases occur during the on-site experiential learning to provide guidance on initial response measures, arrange isolation accommodations, protect student health, hand over students to parents, and support their return home.
In particular, if students need to be isolated at experiential sites such as Jeju Island, the stay expenses for the student and one guardian will be supported.
Shin Yong-chae, Director of the School Safety General Division at the Office of Education, said, “This measure is to support the safe operation of on-site experiential learning at schools,” and added, “Our Office of Education will continue to do its best to ensure safe and educational on-site experiential learning.”
