Chairman Choi emphasized, "The steel industry must reduce carbon emissions across the entire sector through more efficient production methods, different processes than before, and the introduction of new raw materials in pursuit of carbon neutrality," adding, "The World Steel Association’s carbon emission measurement method should be widely promoted and become the global standard."
On the 18th, a member company meeting was held, attended by representatives from over 140 steel companies worldwide and regional steel associations, providing an opportunity to share major issues and activities.

The purpose is to create a platform where steel companies can develop new technologies for carbon neutrality and widely inform the world about how seriously and passionately the steel industry is striving to overcome the climate crisis.
The Innovation Technology Conference, scheduled to be held from December 5 to 7 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, under the auspices of the World Steel Association, is an event that expands the themes and scope of the existing Hydrogen-based Ironmaking International Forum (HyIS).
The conference is expected to be a venue where the global steel industry shares low-carbon strategies and various technologies related to carbon neutrality, including hydrogen-based ironmaking technology and carbon capture, storage, and utilization (CCSU), aiming to drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions generated in steel production processes and discuss sustainable growth.
Meanwhile, POSCO Group received great acclaim from attendees at the World Steel Association’s Public Relations Subcommittee meeting held on the 19th by screening a self-produced documentary recording the 135 days of flood recovery at the Pohang Steelworks.
