On the 19th, Seongnam City revealed that Mayor Shin visited the sewage treatment plant site in Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu, Botdeul Retention Pond in Sampyeong-dong, and Hwansang Children's Park consecutively on the 18th to explore utilization plans for major sites in the district and discussed site utilization measures with related personnel.
The sewage treatment plant site in Gumi-dong has remained idle due to resident opposition since the completion of the first phase of sewage treatment facility construction in 1997.
The Botdeul Retention Pond in Sampyeong-dong is a stormwater runoff reduction facility established during the development of the Pangyo residential area, and Hwansang Children's Park was scheduled to be developed into an e-sports dedicated stadium, but the project was recently halted.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin emphasized, "Although Seongnam has achieved remarkable development over the past 50 years, it is true that there are still some shortcomings in various areas," adding, "We will find usable sites and prepare plans that can take responsibility for Seongnam City's next 50 years."
He also promised, "We will continue to promote 'on-site visit administration,' where related departments and private experts jointly inspect progress on-site and discuss solutions."
Seongnam City formed a 'Task Force (TF) for Idle Site Utilization Measures' on the 3rd of this month to establish reasonable utilization plans for 12 city-owned sites larger than 1,000㎡, including three school sites that have remained idle since the development of Pangyo.
